When to Book Fall Family Photos | Boston Family Photographer
Amy originally reached out to schedule family photos for her son’s first birthday back in May, knowing well that fall dates book up long before the end of summer. It felt like a distant future, but all of a sudden November rolled around and we had the most beautiful, sunniest day for their first portraits as a family of four (including their sweet and patient Golden Retriever).
Every year, fall photos book up way faster than anyone expects. I always suggest booking as soon as you have a date in mind, even if it seems absurdly early. Even if the spring blossoms have just come in and you can hardly bear the thought of fall!
Especially if you want to secure a weekend date. The truth is that there are only so many fall weekends and demand is high. It’s the busiest time of year for me, kind of in the same way that tax season is for accountants. Except, of course, that my busy season includes spending time at parks, apple farms, and in the woods, and is overall delightful.
I love photographing families in all four seasons, but fall is magical. Even when it’s blustery and chilly like it was during this session. There’s something especially golden about the autumn light. It’s that feeling of slipping on your favorite sweater for the first time since last winter. It’s cozy and promising of good things to come.
Do you have a date in mind for your fall family photos? Just send me a few dates and I’ll make sure that you have a spot this autumn!
