Chasing the Blossoms in Boston | Boston Maternity Photographer
When we scheduled this maternity and family photo shoot, I had written something along the lines of, “Maybe we’ll have some blossoms by mid-April!” In the back of my mind, though, I felt this was probably overly optimistic. Usually, April is still chilly and wet, and this one has been particularly cold. But lo and behold, we found the blossoms!
During the months of quickly changing landscapes, I spend a lot of time location scouting. In the fall, I spend hours driving from one location to another searching for the brightest foliage. And in the springtime, I’ll go out of my way to find the blossoming trees. It takes time but it’s always worth it.
That was the case last weekend. After driving from spot to spot in the western suburbs, I headed south toward the city, where I had noticed people were posting about magnolia trees via Instagram, and found these beautiful dogwood trees at the Arnold Arboretum.
They were the loveliest backdrop for this absolutely gorgeous family.
It was so special to capture these moments in the last several weeks before the arrival of their new baby. There’s something magical about the anticipation of a family that is just about to grow and change forever.
And this soon-to-be big sister couldn’t have been any cuter! She was very happy to be able to run around freely in the springtime air.
After this session, I’m so excited for all of the other springtime sessions that are coming up! In the meantime, I’ll be searching for those cherry blossoms and posting to my Instagram account. Join me there if you’re a flower fiend too!
